About Us
At Ingrid School, we believe that every child deserves the right to dream, to learn, and to thrive.
Who We Are...
Ingrid School offers free and subsidized education for over 310 children. The Ingrid School is an oasis in the middle of the Matopeni/Quarry informal settlement. The school was founded and registered as C.B.O (community based organization) In 2005 by local teachers Mr. Douglas Monene and Grace Moraa who saw the need to bring the local children education and provide care and support for needy/OVC’S Matopeni/Kayole youngest children who accompanied their parents and guardians to work in the Quarry farm nearby and to improve their futures in a very harsh environment. The school operates a kindergarten, grades 1 to 6 & Junior secondary school for 7th, 8th & 9th grades.
With your smallest donation to any of our needs, you will be helping in a big way to realize our vision, and thus helping further the lives and future of these children.
Join us in bringing positive developments to our school. Your decision today in taking part in this noble work will go a long way in making a big difference in the lives of these children, who otherwise would be languishing on dangerous streets and quarry farms digging and crushing stones. They and they alone hold the key to a better world tomorrow. Let us help them today and be sure of a better world tomorrow. It started with 27 pupils in Pre-school and the founders were the only teachers at the time it opened its doors. The school has been growing annually to the next class and an additional of another teacher. When the school opened its doors the founders realized that there was need for feeding program and immediately initiated one which bore fruits and this helped the rescued children retained in school.
We run kindergarten, primary classes (Grades 1–6), and Junior Secondary (Grades 7–9), ensuring that every learner has a clear path of growth. Our curriculum combines strong academics with life skills, character development, and community values, equipping children not only to succeed in school but also to thrive in life.
But we go beyond education. Understanding the challenges of poverty, we introduced a feeding program, ensuring that each child receives two nutritious meals a day. For many, this is the difference between dropping out and staying in school. We also provide school uniforms, stationery, and support systems, enabling learners to feel confident and ready to participate fully.
Our school is more than classrooms—it is a sanctuary and a community. With the dedication of 18 teachers, a cook, support staff, and volunteers, we have built an environment where children feel safe, supported, and inspired. We admit learners based not only on age but also on family needs, ensuring that the most vulnerable get a fair chance.

Beyond the Classroom...
Education alone is not enough when children face challenges like poverty and hunger. That’s why Ingrid School is built on a whole-child approach:
Feeding Program: Every child receives two nutritious meals a day—breakfast and lunch. For many, this is their only reliable food, ensuring they can focus on learning instead of hunger.
School Essentials: We provide uniforms, books, and stationery so that lack of resources never becomes a barrier to learning.
Safe Haven: Our school is a refuge from the streets, a place where children are safe, cared for, and surrounded by mentors who believe in them.
Holistic Curriculum: Alongside academics, learners engage in arts, sports, life skills, and spiritual growth, developing character and confidence for the future.
